Member Resource Newsletter

August 26th, 2016
Welcome, New and Returning Co-opers!

This is the first BSC newsletter of the Fall. I'm Rainy, the Member Resources Assistant. Every other week, I send out a newsletter full of info and opportunities for y'all to check out, so if you hear of some cool event or something that your co-op community would be interested in, shoot me an email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and I'll put it in here!

Want to win free tickets to the CZ/Ridge Block Party? Each newsletter has a secret word sprinkled throughout the email. All you have to do is figure it out, send it to me here, and you could win some tickets into the party! Or you could pay $30 ($25 if before 9/1/16). Your call.

In this newsletter, we have info on an internship with Zappos, a job opportunity for Design students, free Yoga workshops, and updates on construction about Berkeley. Read on to find out more.
-Rainy

4 CONSTRUCTION AROUND CAMPUS

There are several major projects that will affect access to the campus that y'all should be aware of. Check these construction projects out and make sure you know how to work around them to get to class on time!

BART Plaza – Construction activities are scheduled to begin by the end of this month, and finish in Fall ‘17. Several preparatory tasks are required before the Plaza can be fenced off, so that work will likely not happen until early/mid-September. Temporary closure of station entrances and bus stop relocation will occur, but station access will be maintained at all times. For further details, please see the attached mailer from BART and the City’s news release here.

Hearst Complete Streets – The construction contract was awarded by Council in June and construction is anticipated to begin in late September. We will update you when start date and traffic control plan are finalized. Further questions may be directed to Don Irby (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 981-6439).

Warring/Derby/Belrose Re-paving – These streets (from Dwight to Claremont) are being rehabilitated as part of our FY16 paving program. Tentative dates are September 6 through October 14. Because this is a full depth reconstruction, traffic impacts will be more substantial than on a typical paving project. Detours will occur for southbound traffic during the morning commute, and for northbound traffic during the afternoon commute. No work or detours will occur during football games. We will update you when construction dates and traffic control plan are finalized. Further questions may be directed to Don Irby (This email address is being protected from spambots.
