Members who renewed their contracts or selected a space for Summer and/or Fall 2021 should have received contract signing information by the end of last week. You will need to sign your contract and make the first rent payment or submit a payment arrangement request by the end of the day on Wednesday, April 7.
If you owe a balance of more than $100 and/or have not verified your student status, your future contract(s) will be held pending resolution of these matters. Please reach out to Dorothy ( firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions about your balance, or Housing (email@example.com) if you have questions about your student status.
COVID-19 Resources and Support
WRITTEN BY THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
IF YOU HAVE TRAVELED DURING SPRING BREAK, it’s important that you follow the directions below to protect yourself and others:
- Sequester upon return (please review this 2-page guide on BSC sequestration protocols and testing)
- Get tested again. Members returning from travel should get tested immediately upon return, again after 5-7 days, and exit sequestration only after the second negative test. In other words, be prepared to sequester for a minimum of 7 days) (Schedule your appointment now!)
The ERT is keeping up with the news, in routine contact with our partners at UHS, and actively assessing the BSC’s COVID-19 guidelines. Our next email will address Berkeley’s move from the purple to the red tier and guidelines for members who are fully vaccinated. In the meantime, please direct any vaccine related questions to Emmett at firstname.lastname@example.org and any questions about BSC policy to Mindy at email@example.com.
We hope that this information has been helpful and that everyone has a pleasant but safe Spring Break. All are welcome to attend ERT office hours every Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
Questions or concerns about COVID? Email firstname.lastname@example.org. You will receive a response within normal business hours, if not sooner. We are checking messages over the weekend too! Check out this 1-page guide on what to do if you have symptoms, exposure, or a positive test result.

Calling All Spring BSC Graduates!
WRITTEN BY ZOE ANTONOFF (DARCom Member)
The BSC is sending out Care Packages to all co-opers graduating in the 2020-2021 school year! SIGN UP HERE to get your very own care package (more details below). Deadline to sign up is Sunday, April 3rd at 11:59 p.m.
Hello student graduates!
I hope that you are continuing to be well as we near the end of this unique, online school year. The BSC is here to support you!
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic last year and the sudden switch to online education, we decided to compile personalized care packages for graduating students to bring them comfort during these times of great isolation. The care packages were also intended to appreciate and commemorate graduates for all their accomplishments and all their involvement within the BSC—and they ended up being a HUGE hit!
Now for its second year running, The Graduation Care Packages Program will be sending packages filled with food, personalized letters from the BSC and Alumni, and other fun BSC memorabilia to help you always remember your time here spent living in the student co-ops. If you are graduating within the 2020-2021 school year and would like a care package, please fill out the FORM LINKED ABOVE by Sunday, April 3rd at 11:59 p.m.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the 2021 Graduation Care Packages Program, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Stay safe and be well!
BSC Scholarship Application for Fall 2021/Spring 2022 Is Now Open!
WRITTEN BY MADELEINE LOH (Development Director)
- Forward to friends who are interested in living in the BSC next year!
- Reminder: prepare your FAFSA or California Dream Act Application for 2021-22. This information is REQUIRED to be considered for the BSC Scholarship!
The BSC Scholarship supports our 501(c)(3) mission of removing barriers to higher education for low-income and traditionally marginalized students and empowering them with community-building skills that they can take into the future. We are grateful to the many BSC alumni who have contributed to BSC Scholarships. Applications are due June 1, 2021.
The BSC will notify applicants of results after June 15 and before the July 7, 2021 deadline for cancelling Fall 2021 contracts without penalty. New BSC applicants are encouraged to apply! You do NOT need to be a current BSC resident to apply for a BSC scholarship. The scholarship is in the form of rent credit FOR BSC HOUSING ONLY. Your scholarship will be 1/6 of your rent each semester. Example: If the rent for a room and board house is normally $3,384/semester, the rent will be reduced to $2,820/semester for a scholarship recipient. You must be living in the BSC and a full-time student in order to receive the scholarship in each semester. The estimated time required to complete this form is 10 minutes. You cannot save an incomplete application; you must complete it all at once. IF YOU MADE A MISTAKE IN YOUR APPLICATION, just start a new application and we will disregard the application with the older timestamp. We rely on financial need information from your school. Please make sure your FAFSA/ California Dream Act and all verifications are timely submitted to the financial aid office of your school. YOU WILL RECEIVE AN AUTOMATED EMAIL CONFIRMATION after you submit this application.
Questions? Contact Madeleine Loh at email@example.com. Please review your application before you submit the form.
