We are grateful to the many BSC alumni who have contributed to BSC Scholarships. Applications are due June 1, 2022.

The BSC will notify applicants of results after June 15 and before the July 7, 2022 deadline for canceling Fall 2022 contracts without penalty. New BSC applicants are encouraged to apply! Your scholarship will be 1/6 of your rent each semester. Example: If the rent for a room and board house is normally $3,384/semester, the rent will be reduced to $2,820/semester for a scholarship recipient. You cannot save an incomplete application; you must complete it all at once. IF YOU MADE A MISTAKE IN YOUR APPLICATION, just start a new application and we will disregard the application with the older timestamp. We rely on financial need information from your school. Please make sure your FAFSA/ California Dream Act and all verifications are timely submitted to the financial aid office of your school. YOU WILL RECEIVE AN AUTOMATED EMAIL CONFIRMATION after you submit this application.

New Professional Staff Members

Please join us in welcoming our new professional staff members.

We are so excited to have you join our team!

Brandon Buckingham has recently joined the BSC as Senior Maintenance Technician. Brandon comes from a construction family; he grew up in the trades in the East Bay. He began by doing various jobs for his electrician father when just a teenager, and later worked some years for his uncle who owned a construction company. Brandon has experience in custom kitchen and bathroom remodels, renovating housing, plus doing electrical, plumbing and hanging sheetrock. Moreover, he is a master house painter and has been highly praised for his work and attention to detail.

David Boyd has recently joined the BSC as Rochdale/Fenwick Maintenance Technician, reporting to Araceli Beltran. David first began working in property management 15 years ago with the John Stewart company, as a groundskeeper. Through that experience he learned to pay attention to the detail of properties. As the years went by, David had a great supervisor named Mark Baker, who began to teach David the skills of becoming a maintenance man. Throughout the years of working with Mark, David gained knowledge that has not only helped him in the workforce, but in life in general. David Boyd is very excited to become part of the BSC team and he looks forward to getting to know each and every one of us.

Pavin Johnson (he/him) has recently joined the BSC as the Maintenance Liaison. He recently graduated from the University of California - Berkeley, where he was the Executive Director of the Indigenous and Native Coalition - Recruitment and Retention Center. Prior to beginning his studies he worked in various industrial jobs and was also a union organizer. He is a Quapaw Indigenous man who cares deeply about his community and the welfare of working class and marginalized students. He plans to eventually attend law school and return to be his nation's tribal lawyer. Pavin was not a BSC member, but he applied and knows many Co-opers, and he has spent quite a bit of time in many of the units visiting friends, attending social events, and even performing maintenance for them in their apartments.

V{ee} Nedeltchev (they/he) is a recent Cal grad in Cognitive Science (Fall '21). V has lived in the co-ops since 2016, at Stebbins, CZ, and Rochdale, taking unit & central level leadership positions throughout their tenure, most recently as Board Rep for Rochdale. V also worked in CFS for three years, including two years a student operations lead. Originally from Beaumont, CA, by way of Bulgaria, V is passionate about sexual health education and quidditch, as well as the co-operative movement and harm reduction. V is excited to join BSC staff as Contract and Purchasing Agent - as it is a great opportunity to continue serving co-opers while building on his existing CFS and BSC experience. V can be reached at
