Dear BSC Alumnae,
We hope that everyone is doing well in midst of this uncertain time. We here at the BSC hope everyone stays safe and healthy. You have been important in reinforcing our community values and mission. Thank you for uniting with us in our pursuit of educational opportunities for all students. At a time of unprecedented challenges, we require extra resilience and your support.
We'd like to update everyone on the BSC response to the COVID-19 threat. As an essential service providing housing and food, we remain open to co-opers, many of whom need us. Executive Director Kim Benson and our professional staff are coordinating closely with students and student leaders to ensure good spirits and health and compliance with the order to shelter-in-place. We have an emergency response team and protocols in place in case any member needs to be quarantined. As a cooperative, we will come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.
The communities the BSC serves will be profoundly impacted by the effects of COVID-19. So many of our students' families lack the economic security, health care, and other support that make extraordinary situations like this one more manageable. For other students, the BSC may be their only safety net. Our organization is committed to our members, but would like to request your support at a time when we need it the most:
BSC Pen Pals
Introducing our Alumni-Student Pen Pal Program. We are hoping that alumni will sign up to write encouraging letters to graduating co-opers at a time when the future is uncertain and when commencement is likely to be cancelled. Your support means a lot to our members. If you are interested in the pen pal program, please sign up HERE by April 1.
BSC Special Give
Our annual fundraising campaign will be April 27 - May 1, and we welcome more volunteers to join our fundraising team. Our Special Give campaign is based on emails and social media. To sign up, email our Development Director, Madeleine Loh at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you'd like to make a donation now to support our work, you can do so at bsc.coop/donate. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and support of our students during this difficult time. You and other alumni have affirmed our core mission and values of working cooperatively to advance affordable housing and communities to students who need it most. The office will be closed to visitors during this time, but please feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com with any questions, or with any movie recommendations.
