  • Casa Zimbabwe in the Berkeley Hills

    Casa Zimbabwe

Casa Zimbabwe has gone through many incarnations over the years since her construction in the 1960s as both the first building designed specifically to be a student co-op, and the first in the nation to be co-ed.

Currently, CZ is a safe space for bad babes, bros and queers of all colors to come together and bring the best out of each other for our communities. Casa Zimbabwe is dedicated to being affordable housing for UC Berkeley Students.

    Davis House

Originally built in the late 19th century for the attorney of the storied Hearst Family, this resplendent manor was one of the first homes to grace Panoramic Hill. Just as close to campus as to a leisurely walk in the woods or hike in the fire trails, Davis is a welcoming and comfortable retreat. Though we’re only thirty-six members large, our generous common areas lure us out of our rooms for late night snacks and conversations ranging from dark energy to postmodern readings of Lady Gaga music videos to the state of the… Read More

  • Kingman Hall

    Kingman

Kingman Hall, aka Toad Hall, when the weather is just so, is something of a resplendent Victorian manor lodged in the red wooded hills of North Berkeley. Ivy and Morning Glories creep along the sides of the house. It is a mere one block tumble from campus and the windy walks of the Rose Garden. A forest, a garden, a study, a place of vibrant, beaming, and charmingly sordid history, it is a local landmark; birthed as a turn of the century fraternity house, with running stints as a sixties counterculture epicenter… Read More

    Ridge House

Rising amidst the gothic chapels and tranquility of North Side is the handsome white and green trimmed Tudor–Ridge House. Built in 1907 by John Galen Howard, this converted mansion reflects as much the quaint beauty of its origins as the communal experimentalism and expression its members cherish.

For most Ridgelings, our house feels like a home - hardwood floors, five fireplaces, exposed redwood beams, and even little hidden stairways. We have a verdant garden and… Read More

    The Convent

The Convent is in fact a former convent, but the studious, cloistered nuns have long since been replaced by studious, cloistered graduate and re-entry students. The almost deity-like powers of maturity possessed by these wise scholars allow them to maintain a house that is clean, orderly, environmentally friendly, and fairly quiet. The well-roundedness of Convent residents is ensured by a habit of games of ping-pong, pool in the spacious chapel-cum-game room, as well as many insightful cross-disciplinary discussions of academic… Read More

    Northside

Northside Co-op is located in two adjacent buildings on Le Conte near Kidd, Euclid, Stebbins, and Hoyt co-ops. It is what might be called the final resting place of all good co-opers (hardwood floors, lots of light through multi-paned, old-fashioned windows).

Life tends to be quiet and only moderately communal, as most members are busy working on graduate/professional studies. BUT people do know their neighbors and get together on a monthly basis as a house. Most of the one-bedroom apartments can be… Read More

As one of 259 co-op members in this apartment complex, you can mingle at parties, get together for a game night in the common room, or just chat with fellow students while doing your laundry. On the other hand, if it’s peace and quiet you seek, you can retreat back to your private room for some crucial… Read More
